Men are Monkeys?

According to the Washington Post, the completed mapping of the chmpanzee proves the monkey is "humankind's closest cousin."

As predicted by preliminary studies, the human and chimpanzee genetic codes are essentially 99 percent identical, a testament to how fundamentally similar the two species remain.
Similarity among diverse species has always existed and led Darwin to assume morphological commonality was indicative of common ancestry. In the same manner, genetically similarity between species has never been directly linked to common ancestry - this is an assumption, not proof.
