Bioethicist is Put to the Test, Comments on Stem Cell Research
Kelly Hollowell is is a scientist, patent attorney and adjunct law professor of bioethics. She recently wrote a must read article about a phone that changed her life and put her faith and training to the test.
Her credibility, in my opinion, is quite high. Here is what she writes about embryonic stem cell research:
- So to recap my top ten list of what is wrong with Stem Cell Research:
- We are divided over who or what are embryonic stem cells
- Terms are grossly misused
- Despite what politicians say, there is a clear link and overlap between ESCR and human cloning
- The current status of ESCR is unsettled
- There is law that prohibits research on human embryos
- Public understanding is lacking
- We are growing humans for body parts in ESCR
- The influence of money, power and fame cannot be overlooked
- The science behind ESCR doesn’t support the claims
- Current clinical applications of adult stem cells is curing thousands and has been for years
For all these reason my conclusion is that more dollars ought to be poured into adult stem cell research and the macabre research associate with ESCR should be abandoned entirely.
Well done, Kelly. My prayers are with you and your unborn child.
