Adult Stem Cell Research

"Adult stem cell research is the best science and is thoroughly moral at the same time," says FRC's Dr. Prentice

Washington D.C. - Senator Brownback (R-KS) will be sponsoring hearings today to discuss the controversy surrounding embryonic stem cell research. Expert witnesses include FRC's Dr. David Prentice.

"Proponents of embryonic stem cell research have little evidence to support the destruction of nascent human life which necessarily takes place in embryonic stem cell research," explains Dr. Prentice.

"To date, there are over 45 treatments that have been achieved with adult stem cells, taken from patients without harm to the patient or the destruction of innocent human life. In a recent study, adult stem cells were taken from fat to treat heart disease. Who would have ever thought that fat would cure hearts?"

"Embryonic stem cell research has not yielded a single cure," says Dr. Prentice. "We need to focus on science that really works and that is truly ethical. Those of us who support adult stem cell research face no ethical quandaries. Adult stem cell research is the best science and thoroughly moral at the same time. It's the most effective option for patients." - Family Research Center
